The Belt and Road Initiative, commonly referred to as B&R, is a significant cooperation proposal put forward by China. It aims to leverage the historical symbol of the ancient Silk Road to promote economic cooperation among countries along the routes, and jointly build a community of shared interests, a community with a shared future, and a community of shared responsibility based on mutual political trust, economic integration, and cultural inclusiveness.   The B&R covers numerous countries spanning from East Asia to Western Europe. The Silk Road Economic Belt starts from Chang'an (now Xi'an), the capital of ancient China, and traverses a series of countries in Central Asia and West Asia, eventually reaching the Mediterranean coast. These countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, play vital roles in the B&R construction. On the other hand, the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road starts from China's coastal cities, traverses the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean, and conducts trade with countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and even the eastern coast of Africa. Nations like Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and countries on the Arabian Peninsula are also important participants and beneficiaries of the B&R construction.   Through the B&R, China has achieved steady growth in import and export volumes with participating countries, and the scale of two-way investment has continued to expand. Simultaneously, China and its partner countries have made remarkable achievements in areas such as infrastructure connectivity, industrial capacity cooperation, and financial cooperation. In the future, the B&R will continue to play an essential role in promoting the common development and prosperity of countries along the routes.
